As our population ages and the incidence of Alzheimers and other dementias increases drastically, we need to develop a plan. We must figure out what we can do to help those who already have it and what we can do to decrease our risk of getting it in the future. This session unlocks the information to help us with prevention, recognise the early signs and help us ensure a way to increase the quality of life of those around us who desperately need our help. We will also uncover what a drastic difference lifestyle factors, inflammation and appropriate exercise can make.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: - Understanding the pathophysiology of dementia and Alzheimers disease - Understanding the lifestyle factors that influence development and progression of the disease - Understanding the role that inflammation in the brain plays in the condition - Knowledge of the early signs and symptoms - Knowledge of the appropriate type of exercise to prescribe and contraindications to be aware of - Ability to develop a program that can be implemented with success in the community
